18th Century Stays in Progress
The stays laid out, getting their marks for grommeting. I should have ironed the tabs before photographing. Oops!
A set of 18th century stays which are about to leave my studio.
This is my first set of stays like this, and I learned *so* much working on them, especially working with the tight turns on the binding.
The customer wants metal grommets, so I’ll be setting them this evening and posting some more photos.
Stomacher, post boning channels
And after the binding was added
The reverse side of the stomacher. The client asked for it to be reversible.
The binding is stitched down by hand, to help it get around the hairpin turns smoothly.
